Wylie requires annual testing on all backflow devices. If you are a residential customer we offer a considerable discount one day a month. Backflow devices that can be tested without someone present can be done quickly allowing us to do twice as many in a given time. We require you to prepay so time is not taken waiting for payment. It was taking three to six minutes for someone to answer the door and write a check. Three minutes times forty customers is two hours. You can see why it is important to prepay to keep the cost down. |
A few of the older homes in Wylie have PVB's
(Pressure Vacuum Breakers) that the city required at one time. There were a few
irrigators that put an automatic irrigation valve between the tie in at the
water service and the PVB. This means there is no water pressure to the PVB
until the sprinkler system is turned on. To test the device means we have to
set an appointment with the homeowner so we can access the garage and turn on
the system. Any backflow device cannot be tested without water pressure to it.
